Frequently Asked Questions

1. How is the release of active ingredients controlled?

The release mechanism utilizes a predetermined balance between the incompatibility of the polymer matrix with the active substances within the bracelet, and the diffusional forces into the skin.

2. How does the bracelet know when to release its active ingredients?

Physical contact between the skin and the inner surface of the bracelet is the trigger for the release of its active substances.  Once skin contact is initiated, the active substances migrate to the inner surface of the bracelet through a proprietary blend of solvents and penetration enhancers, and penetrate into and through the skin.  As the active substances leave the inner surface of the bracelet, diffusional forces drive the active substances from the internal part of the bracelet to the inner surface, where they can then penetrate the skin.  This is a continuous process throughout the period of application of the bracelet.

3. What is the difference between oral and transdermal administration?

Following oral administration of, for example, collagen, 100% of the collagen peptides pass through the digestive tract and liver, where they are metabolized and broken down into their component amino acids. This is called ‘first pass metabolism’, and it drastically reduces the amount of active substance that reaches the circulation systemically.  Our transdermal method of delivery bypasses the gut, thereby avoiding first pass metabolism altogether.  This ensures that actual collagen in its hydrolyzed (more absorbable) form is delivered directly into the circulation as active collagen peptides rather than metabolized by-products.

4. Is the polymer matrix throughout the entirety of the bracelet or does it have “hot spots”?

The polymer matrix is distributed evenly throughout the bracelet, but transdermal delivery occurs only when the inner surface of the bracelet is in full contact with the skin.

5. Are there limitations as to which supplements can be embedded within the bracelet?

Not all supplements will be suitable; however, there is flexibility within our technology.  We have defined parameters and criteria that allow us to determine suitability.

6. What materials are used to manufacture the bracelets?

The bracelets are comprised of a proprietary blend of active substances, solubilizers and penetration enhancers, all embedded within a patented polymer matrix.  Our bracelets are 100% recyclable.

7. Is one bracelet effective, or do multiple bracelets increase the effect?

Generally, only one bracelet is necessary and the effect will not be increased by additional bracelets.  A second bracelet would be recommended only in the case of a consumer with an excessively high body weight.

8. Is more than one type of bracelet able to be worn at the same time?

Yes, multiple bracelet types can be worn simultaneously.

9. Is the bracelet safe for use by children or pregnant/breastfeeding women?

Children and pregnant/breastfeeding women should consult their physician prior to use.

10. What types of bracelets can we expect in the future from Tanka?

We are continuously working on the development of new and innovative wellness bracelets and will soon be able to provide supplements such as iron, multi-vitamins, and CBD, and naturally support conditions such as ADHD and peri/post menopause.
